August Joint Outdoor Lodge

Portage and Tawatena Lodges will be moving their regular meetings to Saturday August 20th and invite you to join us in an outdoor lodge. For directions please contact the lodge email below. We will tile at 2pm and then have a BBQ to follow. All masons are welcome.

DDGM Official Visit

The DDGM's official visit for will be a joint meeting with Portage and Tawatena lodges. It will be held on Thursday 21st of July at Portage Lodge (Elks Hall, Lac La Biche). We will tile promptly at 8pm.

Golf Tournament 2011

Portage Lodge and Tawatena Lodge are co-sponsoring the 2nd Annual Athabasca District golf tournament. We will have Breakfast at the clubhouse from 0930 - 1030. Registration will be from 1000-1100. The first foursome will depart at 1100. Subsequent groups will tee off in 10 - 15 minute intervals. After the last group is finished a short presentation for prizes will be held in the clubhouse and then we are off to a BBQ with Waskatenau Lodge. the tournament will be held on the 16th of July at the:

The golf course is co-located with the Long Lake Provincial Park on Highway 831, between Boyle and Waskatenau. We hope to see many golfers out this year.

1st Annual Golf Tournament

We will be hosting a Golf Tournament on 16th of July. Activities will include 9 holes of golf, a steak BBQ, a short meeting followed by fellowship at the lodge. If you are interested please contact the JW at the lodge email address. Everyone is welcome, so bring your spouse or your friend or prospective mason.

We were officially consecrated on 22nd August 2009 by the Grand Lodge of Alberta. Approximately 90 MM were in attendance. The ceremony went very well and the festive board after was well attended and much enjoyed. Thank you to all those who attended.

June Meeting Festive Board

Our last meeting before the summer break will be 19 June 2009. We are going to have Festive Board before the meeting. We will meet at the Lac La Biche Legion around 1730 with a plan to eat at 1800. The Legion has a BBQ Steak dinner on Friday evenings at a cost of $15. You cook your own steak and the legion provides all the fixin's, salads, desserts etc. There is a cash bar. All Masons are welcome. If you notice someone who is interested in joining the lodge they are more than welcome to attend the supper. It will be a good opportunity for them to ask questions and meet some of the Brothers. We did this last year and it was very successful.

Lodge will tile at 2000. We hope to conduct an Entered Apprentice degree that evening.

Lodge Consecration

On 22 August 2009 our lodge will be consecrated as Portage Lodge # 200. The lodge will tile at 2 pm with dinner at 5 pm. The cost of dinner will be $25. There will be a cash bar, door prizes and a raffle for a commemorative leather belt. All Masons are welcome. Some brothers are planning to play a round of 9 nine holes of golf at the local scenic golf course. To book a tee time you can call the Lac La Biche Golf and Country Club at 780-623-4288.
